George Lake is particularly famous for its trophy Smallmouth
Bass, the most sought after fish on George Lake. Also found in
George Lake are Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Whitefish and Perch.
Lake Trout are the popular choice for Ice
Fishing in the winter. Fishing trips on George Lake can be
arranged either with, or without a guide while you are staying
in the cabin. Our guide service includes shore lunch and your
guide would be the owner/operator himself, Rick Penner. For
those who have never been to George Lake, getting there is half
the fun. A ½ hour hike takes you from the Winnipeg
River to George Lake. The well marked trail leads you through
the unique beauty of Pre - Cambrian Shield country,
as it winds through the beautiful boreal forest. Once you reach
the shore of George Lake, the clear, deep water will capture
your attention immediately. You may even spot a Smallmouth Bass
darting in and out of the rock cuts far below the surface. Back-country
campers have 3 beautiful islands from which to choose, each with
a fire-pit and an unbelievable view of the lake. |
